The head of the Federal Criminal Police Office of Germany (BKA-BUNDESKRIMINALAMT) Holger Munch, on Tuesday in Marrakech, praised the “very good” security cooperation between Rabat and Berlin.
“I would like to commend this very good cooperation that has existed between our two countries for years and which continues to improve,” Mr. Munch told the press after his meeting with the Director General of National Security and Territorial Surveillance, Abdellatif Hammouchi.
This was on the sidelines of the 93rd session of the INTERPOL General Assembly, held from November 24 to 27 in Marrakech.
“We are very grateful for it and we truly appreciate it,” he said, before acknowledging that the Moroccan security services are “very effective.”
He added that Morocco and Germany can rely on each other in the area of security cooperation. On the sidelines of the 93rd General Assembly, Hammouchi received Faisal Shahkar, head of the United
Nations Police Service and Under-Secretary-General for the Rule of Law.
According to a statement from the DGSN (National Security Directorate), Faisal Shahkar expressed the UN Secretary-General’s desire to strengthen security cooperation and partnership with the
security services of Morocco, in order to consolidate and support UN police units, both at headquarters in New York and in peacekeeping missions deployed in conflict zones around the world.
The INTERPOL General Assembly, attended by more than 800 delegates from 179 countries, including 82 police chiefs, addresses various issues, notably the identification and dismantling of transnational organised crime, the dismantling of transnational fraud hubs, the strengthening
of INTERPOL’s global policing capabilities, and the promotion of women in policing.
