After the meeting held in Rabat on Monday with the foreign ministers of Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger, Karamoko Jean Marie Traore, Burkina Faso’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Cooperation, and Burkinabe Abroad, lauded the exchange as one characterized by fraternity and keen attention. He remarked that it reflected King Mohammed VI’s evident “love” “for Africa and Africans.”
Minister Traore conveyed his deep impression of King Mohammed VI’s thorough understanding of the realities facing the Sahel region, as well as the sovereign’s strong aspiration to cultivate relations with his counterparts across the continent based on principles of solidarity and equality. “It’s very touching,” he stated, emphasizing the King’s clear willingness to support the Sahelian states in achieving their development priorities.
The head of Burkina Faso’s diplomacy particularly highlighted the crucial importance of the Moroccan Atlantic Initiative, which he views as a pivotal geostrategic project with the potential to unlock the Sahelian countries and facilitate their sustainable access to global markets. Minister Traore also conveyed a personal message from the President of the Transition in Burkina Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, recalling the latter’s training in Morocco and his enduring special connection to the Kingdom.
