The upper echelons of African football governance are descending upon Tanzania this week for a high-stakes meeting of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Executive Committee.
Scheduled for Friday, February 13, 2026, the session will be held in the economic hub of Dar es Salaam and chaired by CAF President Patrice Motsepe.
As the primary decision-making arm of the organization, the “EXCO” is tasked with setting the strategic roadmap for the continent’s footballing future. This particular gathering is viewed as a pivotal moment for regional sports development, as it takes place in one of the three nations slated to co-host the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). The joint bid between Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda marks a historic first for East Africa, and the committee is expected to review infrastructure progress and logistical readiness for the tournament.
In addition to the 2027 preparations, the agenda is expected to cover a range of critical governance and competition issues, including the evolution of the African Football League and updates on various continental championships. A press conference will follow the deliberations, where President Motsepe is anticipated to address ongoing efforts to enhance transparency and commercial viability within the African game.
