The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has imposed sanctions on the Senegalese Football Federation (FSF), the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF), as well as several players and officials from both teams over misconducts during the final of the Africa Cup of Nations on January 18.
Both parties had violated CAF’s disciplinary code, according to the African football governing body.
The disciplinary committee decided to suspend Pape Bouna Thiaw, coach of the Senegalese national team, for five official CAF matches for unsportsmanlike conduct, violation of the principles of fair play and integrity, and damaging the image of football, CAF stated on its official website.
CAF also fined Thiaw $100,000 and suspended Iliman Cheikh Baroy Ndiaye, a player for the Senegalese national team, from two official CAF matches for unsportsmanlike conduct towards the referee.

Additionally, it imposed a $15,000 fine for disciplinary offenses committed by the national team, with five players receiving warnings, the African governing body said.

The CAF disciplinary jury also rejected the complaint lodged by the FRMF, relating to alleged violations by the FSF of articles 82 and 84 of the Regulations of the Africa Cup of Nations, in connection with the AfCON tournament played in Morocco from December 21, 2025 to January 18 which Senegal won.
