The Minister of State and Minister of Foreign Affairs for Chad, Dr. Abdoulaye Sabre Fadoul, held a meeting on August 19 with the UNAIDS Country Director, Françoise Ndayishimiye.
The discussions focused on strengthening cooperation in the fight against HIV.
During the meeting, Ms. Ndayishimiye reaffirmed UNAIDS’s commitment to continuing and strengthening its partnership with Chad. She reiterated that the organization’s mandate is to ensure universal access to HIV prevention, treatment, care, and support.
According to official figures, the HIV prevalence rate in Chad is estimated at 0.9%, which corresponds to approximately 120,000 people. The regions most affected by the virus are Ndjamena and Logone Occidental.
