Gabon marked its presence at the 46th Session of the Ministerial Conference of La Francophonie, held from 18 to 20 November in Kigali, through the participation of Minister François Ndong Obiang, who represented the country at the meeting focused on women’s contribution within the Francophone space.
Obiang, as Minister of Reform and Relations with Institutions and acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, took part in the 46th Ministerial Conference of La Francophonie in Kigali, Rwanda, held under the theme: “30 Years After Beijing: Women’s Contribution in the Francophone Space.”
The event brought together ministers and delegates from member states for in-depth discussions on governance, diplomacy, culture, peace and sustainable development, with a particular emphasis on the central role of women in these areas.
The gathering served as a strategic platform to consolidate commitments to gender equality, promote women’s empowerment and support Francophone projects aimed at fostering inclusive development.
On the sidelines of the meeting, Ndong Obiang held talks with OIF Secretary-General Louise Mushikiwabo. Their discussions centered on strengthening cooperation between Gabon and the OIF, as well as shared priorities related to promoting the Francophonie and development. Gabon’s participation in the conference underscores its commitment to Francophone values and to advancing women’s rights.
The Ministerial Conference of La Francophonie remains one of the most important frameworks for consultation among member states, helping to shape the organisation’s political priorities and strengthen collective action in support of development, peace and Francophone solidarity.
