Gabonese President Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema held separate meetings in Libreville on Monday with the ambassadors of Saudi Arabia and Spain to reinforce bilateral cooperation with these two strategic partner countries.
President Oligui Nguema first received Saudi Arabian Ambassador Farraj Ben Nader. Their discussions focused on developing relations between Libreville and Riyadh, specifically targeting key sectors such as infrastructure, the port sector, mining, and health.
The Saudi diplomat also extended an official invitation to President Oligui Nguema to participate in Expo Riyadh 2030, symbolizing the dynamic friendship and cooperation between the two nations.
Following the Saudi meeting, the Head of State met with Spanish Ambassador Rafael Chaves Beardo. The discussion centered on investment opportunities for Spanish companies in Gabon, particularly as part of the country’s national economic diversification efforts.
The two emphasized strengthening partnerships in the tourism, services, and infrastructure sectors, alongside a shared desire to consolidate overall economic and institutional cooperation between Libreville and Madrid. Spain reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Gabon in its modernization and sustainable development initiatives.
Since taking office in 2023, President Oligui Nguema has actively pursued diplomatic initiatives to diversify Gabon’s international partnerships and attract new investors, underscoring the country’s policy of openness and repositioning on the global stage.
