Canadian immigration authorities have stopped Ghanaian midfielder Thomas Partey from enterig the country ahead of his country’s opening World Cup match against Panama.
As a result Partey, will not feature in the Black Stars World Cup opener in Toronto, according to a statement by world football governing body FIFA.
FIFA said Partey’s visa application was rejected by the Canadian authorities.
According to Canadian law, individuals accused and convicted of a crime may not be allowed into Canada.
He was part of Ghana’s training camp in Boston ahead of the teams group games against Panama, England and Croatia.
The 32-year-old former Arsenal player faces seven charges of rape and another charge of sexual assault.
The allegations are made by four different women which Partey had denied.
The trial of the Villareal player will take place in 2027.
