The General Directorate of Elections (DGE) announced the first partial results of the Guinean presidential election of December 28, 2025, on Monday evening, placing candidate Mamadi Doumbouya far ahead in several constituencies in Conakry and the interior of the country.
According to figures released by the Director General of Elections, Djenabou Toure, the partial results cover several constituencies that have already been centralised and validated, where Mamadi Doumbouya obtained high scores, often exceeding 70 percent, 80 percent, and sometimes 90 percent of the valid votes cast.
In Conakry, the first constituencies announced – Kassa, Kaloum, Ratoma, Dixinn, Matam, and Sonfonia – all show Mamadi Doumbouya in the lead.
He notably garnered 97.82 per cent in Kassa, 89.76 per cent in Kaloum, 86.49 per cent in Matam, 78.98 per cent in Dixinn, and 69.14 per cent in Ratoma.
In some municipalities, notably Ratoma and Sonfonia, his main rival, Abdoulaye Yéro Baldé (FRONDEG), exceeded 22 per cent.
In the inland constituencies, particularly in Koya (Kindia), Boffa, Fria, Gaoual and Koundara (Boke), Dabola (Faranah), as well as Gueckedou and Youmou (Nzerekore), the partial results also confirm a significant lead for the GMD candidate, with scores frequently exceeding 80 per cent.
The announcement of these partial results comes as the General Directorate of Elections (DGE) commended the smooth conduct of the election on Sunday evening.
Speaking during a special broadcast, Ms. Toure described a peaceful atmosphere, adherence to the electoral calendar, and strong voter turnout, announcing a provisional participation rate of approximately 85 per cent.
According to the General Directorate of Elections (DGE), the December 28th election mobilized 6,768,458 voters, distributed across 23,662 polling stations and 16,722 centers, with the participation of civil society, political
parties, and the media.
All 378 administrative commissions responsible for centralizing the results have begun processing the tally sheets, both in Guinea and abroad.
Electoral authorities specified that the publication of partial results will continue as data is validated, before the announcement of results from the diaspora constituencies.
The December 28th presidential election featured nine candidates, including the head of Guinea’s transitional government, Mamadi Doumbouya.
The election took place in the absence of several major figures from the traditional opposition, a situation that continues to fuel debate about the inclusiveness of the electoral process.
