Representing the Senegalese Head of State, Minister of Energy and Petroleum Dr. El Hadji Abdourahmane Diouf attended the Infra for Africa 2026 Forum in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, held under the patronage of Tanzanian President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan.
Organized by investment platform Africa50, the summit brought together African government leaders, international financiers, and private sector executives to address critical infrastructure funding, expand energy access, and navigate the continent’s broader energy transition challenges.
Participating in a high-level ministerial panel alongside African officials and the Secretary-General of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), Dr. Diouf articulated Senegal’s framework for a fair, sovereign, and inclusive energy transition. He emphasized that the responsible development of domestic natural gas reserves serves as a vital foundation for industrialization, domestic value creation, and long-term economic growth, while calling for accelerated capital deployment toward critical energy infrastructure across the continent.
On the sidelines of the forum, Dr. Diouf held bilateral discussions with African Development Bank (AfDB) Group President Dr. Sidi Ould Tah to deepen strategic cooperation between Senegal and the institution. Their talks centered on advancing the Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP), aligning with the Mission 300 initiative, and financing key projects aimed at providing reliable, affordable, and sustainable power nationwide, reinforcing Senegal’s commitment to regional energy integration and infrastructure-led development.
