Senegal’s Minister of Justice and Keeper of the Seals, Me Moussa Sarr, has issued an urgent directive calling on subject officials within his department to regularise their asset declarations ahead of an August 10, 2026 deadline.
The warning precedes a public release planned by the National Office for the Fight Against Fraud and Corruption (OFNAC), which intends to publish a list of non-compliant public servants. In a circular letter distributed to directors-general, central administration heads, first presidents, and appellate prosecutors, the minister emphasized that statutory declarations are mandatory upon assuming office, during routine updates, and upon departure.
The directive references Law No. 2025-13 and its accompanying decree from late 2025, which strengthened national anti-corruption mechanisms by formalizing standards for transparency, institutional integrity, and the prevention of illicit enrichment. Expressing concern over officials within the judicial sector who have yet to complete or update their filings, Me Moussa Sarr urged immediate compliance with OFNAC. With the August 10 publication representing a final window to meet statutory obligations, the minister reminded officials that non-compliance carries legal sanctions designed to uphold public sector integrity.
