Morocco is taking an active part in the 2025 Summit of the International Transport Forum (ITF), held from May 21 to 23 in Leipzig, Germany.
This high-level gathering comes at a pivotal time, as governments and industry stakeholders seek strategies to ensure the continuity and resilience of transport networks in the face of global shocks such as pandemics, natural disasters, cyberattacks, and geopolitical tensions.
Led by the Ministry of Transport and Logistics, the Moroccan delegation is participating in discussions focused on this year’s central theme: “Transport Resilience in the Face of Global Shocks.”
The summit will explore policies and mechanisms that enable governments and operators to strengthen the robustness and adaptability of transport infrastructure during crises.
Morocco arrives in Leipzig with significant experience to share, following the recent hosting of the 4th Global Ministerial Conference on Road Safety in Marrakech.
The event culminated in the adoption of the Marrakech Declaration, an international commitment to halving road traffic deaths by 2030.
During the summit, Moroccan officials will highlight tangible progress made since the declaration, including the establishment of the National Road Safety Agency (NARSA), tasked with coordinating national efforts in road safety and transport resilience.
The 2025 edition of the ITF Summit gathers delegates from 69 member countries under the Chilean presidency. Discussions are organised around three main pillars: transport users, service providers, and governance or financing institutions.
