The head of the Libyan Presidential Council and Supreme Commander of the Army, Mohamed Menfi, convened a high-level meeting in Tripoli on Sunday with the Chief of the General Staff, Lieutenant General Salah Al-Namroush.
The discussions focused on a comprehensive review of the military and security situation across Libya’s western regions, marking a pivotal moment in the ongoing efforts to restructure and stabilize the nation’s security apparatus.
During the session, the two leaders evaluated detailed reports on the progress of current security operations and the effectiveness of coordination between various military units and security agencies. Menfi emphasized that strengthening joint operational mechanisms is essential for improving ground-level efficiency and rebuilding public trust in state institutions. These efforts are central to a broader strategic goal of unifying all military and security structures under the sole authority of the Presidential Council, a move seen as a prerequisite for a professional national army.
Mohamed Menfi urged all personnel to act with a heightened sense of national responsibility, stressing that unity among the ranks is the only way to safeguard the country’s sovereignty. He reiterated that a firm commitment to the rule of law is the foundation for lasting stability and is crucial for creating the secure environment necessary for holding long-awaited national elections.
In response, the military command reaffirmed its full commitment to the Presidential Council’s directives, focusing on enhanced discipline and operational readiness. The primary objective remains the protection of national resources and the securing of Libyan territory during what authorities describe as a decisive phase for the country’s political and institutional future.
