Malian Armed Forces (FAMa) have intercepted a major logistics convoy belonging to terrorist groups during an operation conducted from April 1 to 3, 2026, in the Timbuktu region in northern Mali.
According to a statement to APA, the operation—led by Colonel Seydou B. Niangado—targeted the areas of Bintagougou, Lerneb, and Raselma, with the aim of securing local populations and protecting their property.
The mission, carried out with what the army described as rigor and efficiency, involved multiple units and dealt a significant blow to terrorist networks operating in the region.
FAMa reported that several militants were neutralised and that two trucks carrying KTM Sanili motorcycles with crated engines, along with a substantial quantity of fuel, were seized.
The army also stated that a FAMa vehicle stolen during the 2018 attack in Soumpi was recovered, along with several communication devices, further underscoring the operation’s success.
The intervention marks what the military described as a turning point in the fight against armed groups in the Timbuktu region.
