King Mohammed VI of Morocco, in his capacity as Chairman of the Al-Quds Committee, has ordered the dispatch of additional humanitarian aid to the residents of Gaza.
The new aid is intended to help the population facing an unprecedented humanitarian crisis since the outbreak of the war.
A statement from the Moroccan Ministry of Foreign Affairs, published on Monday, specified that this latest shipment includes approximately 100 tons of food and medicine, with a particular focus on children and infants. The King has stipulated that this operation, like previous ones, should be carried out by air to ensure rapid and direct delivery to the Palestinian enclave.
Since October 2023, Rabat has intensified its support for Gaza with land and air convoys totaling several hundred tons of essential goods. Unlike other Arab countries that primarily use multilateral organizations, Morocco has opted for a direct and visible approach. This strategy aims for immediate impact on the civilian population while reinforcing the diplomatic significance of these gestures.
The King’s chairmanship of the Al-Quds Committee, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) body responsible for the situation in Jerusalem, lends particular legitimacy to Morocco’s initiatives. The country maintains a dual position of consistent humanitarian support and a measured diplomacy that keeps channels of dialogue open with all regional actors.
While other Gulf monarchies have focused on funding UN agencies and Egypt on political mediation, Morocco has adopted a hybrid approach. This strategy reinforces the Kingdom’s image as a committed actor, despite its geographical distance from the conflict. By multiplying concrete gestures, King Mohammed VI seeks to strengthen Morocco’s visibility and reaffirm the centrality of the Palestinian cause to the Moroccan agenda.
