The Moroccan national football team is now ranked 7th in the world, the highest position ever achieved by the Atlas Lions, according to the FIFA World Rankings published on 3 June 2026.
With a total of 1,756.94 points, Morocco has climbed one place in the world rankings to 7th in the FIFA rankings. This is the best performance in its history since the international body’s world
rankings were first established.
Morocco ranks behind France, the world leader, as well as Spain, Argentina, England, Portugal and
Brazil.
This rise confirms Morocco’s ascent among the major nations of international football. It is the result of the excellent results recorded by the Moroccan national team in recent years, marked by notable performances in international competitions.
In this ranking, Morocco retains its position as the top African nation, ahead of several of the continent’s major teams. The Atlas Lions are notably ahead of Senegal, ranked 14th in the world, Nigeria (25th), Algeria (28th) and Egypt (29th).
In the Arab world, Morocco remains well ahead of Algeria, Egypt, Tunisia (ranked 46th in the world) and Qatar, which occupies 55th place.
The Atlas Lions flew to the United States on Wednesday ahead of the 2026 World Cup, co-hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico.
Morocco will begin their campaign against Brazil before facing Scotland
