Morocco will remain a committed, supportive, and responsive partner in helping to build African
capacity in cybersecurity, Mohamed Methqal stated on Monday in Rabat.
The Director General of the Moroccan Agency for International Cooperation (AMCI) spoke at the opening of the ANCA-CERT Executive Cybersecurity Leadership Program, an operational arm of the African Network of National Cybersecurity Authorities (ANCA).
“The Kingdom of Morocco, true to its commitment to the development of the African continent, will remain a committed, supportive, and willing partner in supporting African capacity-building in the field of cybersecurity, by backing initiatives led by the DGSSI (General Directorate for Information Systems Security) and the African Network of CERTs,” said Methqal.
He noted that King Mohammed VI has made South-South cooperation one of the main pillars of the kingdom’s foreign policy, advocating a vision of solidarity and action, where the sharing of experiences and expertise is ongoing.
According to the official, this royal vision places the human element and skills development at the heart of all actions, projects, programs, and initiatives.
He added that accelerating the digital transition and contributing to strengthening cybersecurity in Africa “are important priorities for the cooperation programs implemented by the Kingdom of Morocco through various capacity-building and experience-sharing programs with fellow
African nations.”
The Moroccan Agency for International Cooperation (AMCI), in coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Living Abroad, is actively working with all its
technical partners, including the Directorate General of Information Systems Security (DGSSI), to help implement this Royal Vision with fellow African nations and countries of the Global South in general, he stated.
He noted that through its numerous training, capacity-building, and networking programs for African expertise, Morocco is contributing to the emergence of a new generation of African leaders,
decision-makers, and experts capable of addressing the continent’s strategic challenges, particularly in cutting-edge fields such as cybersecurity and digital transformation.
General Abdellah Boutrig, Vice-President of the African Network of Cybersecurity Authorities (ANCA) and Director General of the DGSSI, affirmed that Morocco will continue to support all
initiatives aimed at strengthening the protection of information systems, developing skills, and consolidating the cyber resilience of the African continent.
Boutrig stressed that this approach is fully in line with the vision of cooperation and solidarity promoted by King Mohammed VI in favour of “a more integrated, more resilient Africa that
controls its development”.
