Abdellatif Hammouchi, the Director General of National Security and Territorial Surveillance (DGSN-DGST), held a series of high-level meetings in Rabat on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, to advance Morocco’s international security partnerships.
Engaging with the ambassadors of the United Kingdom, Gabon, and Malaysia, Hammouchi focused on deepening bilateral ties and establishing sustainable frameworks for combating evolving global threats.
The discussions with British Ambassador Alex Pinfield centered on the “distinguished relations” between the two kingdoms, specifically targeting border policing, counter-terrorism, and the disruption of transnational criminal networks. Parallel to this, Hammouchi’s meeting with Gabonese Ambassador Branly Martial Oupolo addressed the volatile security climate in the Sahel-Saharan zone. This dialogue laid the groundwork for a strategic “South-South” police cooperation framework, which prioritizes joint training programs and the dismantling of illegal migration and terrorist organizations that threaten regional stability.
The diplomatic series concluded with a meeting with Malaysian Ambassador Shahabudeen Bin Adam to consolidate a partnership focused on mutual technical assistance and operational data exchange. According to the DGSN, these meetings reflect Morocco’s broader vision of “effective complementarity” with friendly nations, using specialized training and enhanced coordination to address modern security challenges. This proactive approach underscores Morocco’s role as a regional security hub, committed to responding to global requests for coordination while safeguarding territorial integrity.
