A Burundian delegation led by Jean Claude Barutwanayo was received in Ouagadougou on Wednesday by Burkina Faso’s Prime Minister Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo, as part of an exchange mission focused on multisectoral platforms for nutrition and food security.
The Burundian delegation is visiting Ouagadougou from April 12 to 19, 2026, seeking to draw inspiration from the achievements of Burkina Faso’s National Nutrition Information Platform (PNIN), a mechanism designed to strengthen nutrition information systems and enhance data analysis capacities in the sector.
During the meeting, the head of the delegation expressed satisfaction with the reception and outlined the purpose of the visit: “We have come to exchange experiences, assess the progress made here and identify best practices that we can adapt at home,” he said.
In response, the Burkinabe Prime Minister welcomed the momentum of South-South cooperation, stressing that “solutions to Africa’s challenges lie within Africa” and calling for stronger bilateral exchanges.
At the halfway point of the mission, Jean Claude Barutwanayo voiced confidence in achieving the set objectives, particularly praising the digitalisation of Burkina Faso’s system management tools. “We are discovering highly valuable elements that we will be able to leverage to strengthen our own platform,” he noted.
The mission will continue with technical sessions and exchange visits focusing on multisectoral governance and the digital management of nutrition data through April 19.
