Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo and Chadian President Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno have laid the groundwork for a concrete partnership between their two capitals.
At the end of her official visit to Chad, Ms. Hidalgo was received on Monday in N’Djamena by President Déby Itno to discuss the implementation of the recently signed Pact of Friendship and Cooperation between Paris and N’Djamena.
This agreement, built on urban solidarity and decentralised cooperation, aims to strengthen ties between the two cities in key areas such as local governance, transportation, and environmental management.
President Déby Itno hailed the initiative as “a tool for shared progress serving local communities and citizens.”
For her part, Ms. Hidalgo reaffirmed Paris’s commitment to sharing its expertise while respecting Chad’s own vision of modernisation and decentralisation.
Through this pact, Paris and N’Djamena aim to move from words to action, laying the foundation for a long-term, tangible partnership. A symbolic and operational bridge is now being built between the two capitals in support of local development and the well-being of their people.
