The lawyer for Saif al-Islam Gaddafi has announced the launch of an online portal to collect testimonies and information about his killing earlier this month in Zintan.
Khaled al-Zaidi, Saif’s legal representative, said the international legal team handling the case has set up a dedicated digital platform to gather reports, documents and data that could help clarify the circumstances surrounding his client’s death. The announcement was made in a statement issued by the defense team.
According to the statement, the portal is intended to centralise contributions from witnesses, individuals with relevant information or anyone wishing to submit material linked to the investigation. The legal team said the data collected would be handled “with the strictest confidentiality,” in line with international standards on data protection and information security.
The lawyers added that technical safeguards have been built into the platform to ensure secure communications and protect the identity of contributors. The initiative, they said, is designed to encourage the submission of information without fear of reprisal, in what they describe as a sensitive security environment.
Saif al-Islam Gaddafi died on February 3 at his residence in Zintan following the reported intrusion of unidentified armed men. According to accounts from his entourage, the residence’s surveillance cameras were allegedly disabled prior to the attack. He later succumbed to gunshot wounds, the same source said.
No official authority has so far released definitive details about the exact circumstances of the incident or the identity of Saif’s assassins. The legal team’s initiative is therefore presented as an effort to document events and gather evidence that could support potential legal proceedings at the national or international level.
The death of Saif al-Islam Gaddafi — a controversial political figure and son of late Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi — has reignited tensions within Libya’s still-fragmented institutional landscape. Further developments in the investigation and any ensuing judicial steps are expected in the coming weeks.
