Senegalese President Bassirou Diomaye Faye has officially appointed the members of the country’s new government, which will be led by Prime Minister Ahmadou Alamine Mohamed Lo.
The newly formed cabinet comprises 30 members in total, including 26 full ministers and four junior ministers attached to various ministerial departments. The entire composition of the administration was formalized and made public through Decree No. 2026-1130, which was signed by President Faye following proposals submitted by the Prime Minister, who had been appointed just days prior on May 26.
Among the high-profile appointments announced for key sovereign portfolios, Yankoba Diémé has been named Minister of the Armed Forces, while Cheikh Diba will take charge as the Minister of Economy, Finance, and Planning. The crucial Ministry of the Interior and Public Security has been entrusted to Mohamedou Makhtar Cissé, and Cheikh Niang will oversee international relations as the Minister of African Integration, Foreign Affairs, and Senegalese Abroad. Additionally, the Ministry of Justice and Keeper of the Seals portfolio was handed to Moussa Sarr, while Marie-Angélique Mame Selbé Diouf will lead the Ministry of Family Affairs, Social Action, and Solidarity. Boubacar Camara has taken charge of Higher Education, Research, and Innovation, with El Hadji Abdourahmane Diouf appointed as Minister of Energy and Petroleum.
The administrative lineup continues with Serigne Guèye Diop serving as Minister of Industry and Trade, Cheikh Tidiane Dièye handling Water Resources and Sanitation, and Moustapha Mamba Guirassy taking over as Minister of National Education. The health sector will be managed by Ibrahima Sy as Minister of Health and Public Hygiene, while Moussa Bala Fofana will head the Ministry of Urban Development, Local Authorities, and Territorial Planning. Infrastructure falls under the purview of Minister Dethié Fall, and Bakary Sarr has been designated Minister of Communication and Relations with Institutions, a role in which he will also serve as the official Government Spokesperson.
The remaining ministerial positions have been filled by Alioune Dione for Microfinance and the Social and Solidarity Economy, Cheikh Oumar Ba for Agriculture, Food Sovereignty, and Livestock, and Samba Diouf for Telecommunications and the Digital Economy. Mamoudou Lamine Dianté will oversee Public Service, Labour, and Public Service Reform, while Djireye Clotilde Coly takes on Youth and Sports, and Alpha Thiam steps into Culture, Crafts, and Tourism. Rounding out the full cabinet roles are Idrissa Samb for Employment and Vocational and Technical Training, Cheikh Oumar Ciss for Mines and Geology, Aliou Gory Diouf for Environment and Ecological Transition, Abdou Khadre Ndiaye for Land and Air Transport, and Ami Mbengue Ndao for Fisheries and the Maritime Economy.
To complete the executive team, four junior ministers were appointed to provide targeted departmental support, consisting of Bassirou Sarr for the Budget, Alenard Diop for Economy, Planning, and Cooperation, Ousmane Diagne for Livestock, and Mame Coumba Diop for Culture, Creative Industries, and Historical Heritage. Furthermore, Papa Assane Touré, an Inspector General of State, was elevated to the rank of Minister and Secretary-General of the Government. This swift formation of the new executive team notably comes just hours after the Executive Committee of Pastef–Les Patriotes announced its decision to skip the new administration. In a public statement released by party leader Ousmane Sonko, Pastef clarified that it would not be represented by any minister in this government. The first official cabinet meeting under this new administration is scheduled to take place on June 5, operating under the direct chairmanship of President Bassirou Diomaye Faye.
