Senegalese Minister of Industry and Trade Serigne Guèye Diop met in Dakar on Monday, September 14, 2026, with International Exhibitions Bureau (BIE) Secretary-General Dimitri S. Kerkentzes to discuss deepening strategic cooperation around major international expos.
Building on previous talks held at the Senegal Pavilion during Expo 2025 in Osaka, Japan, the two leaders focused on positioning Senegal to expand its presence and impact at future world expos, which are held every five years under BIE auspices.
The visit continues on Tuesday with the launch of a targeted capacity-building workshop for key domestic institutions, including staff from the Senegalese Export Promotion Agency (ASEPEX). Accompanying the BIE Secretary-General are senior organization officials Pauline Godignon Santino and Anca Anghel, alongside Dusan Borovcacin, representing Expo 2027 Belgrade, which Senegal is slated to attend.
The joint delegation underlines a shared commitment between Dakar and the BIE to enhance Senegal’s institutional readiness and elevate its global visibility across upcoming international expositions.
