President Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno on Monday, received three prominent Chadian figures recently appointed to senior international positions, in the presence of Minister of State and Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdoulaye Sabre Fadoul.
The three women, well known in political and diplomatic circles and recognised for their experience and professional track records, are Mariam Mahamat Nour, Amina Priscille Longoh and Mariam Ali Moussa.
Former Minister and Secretary-General of the Government, Mariam Mahamat Nour was elected Vice-President of the Commission of the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS) during a summit held by videoconference in January 2026.
Amina Priscille Longoh, who served for many years as Minister of Women and Early Childhood Protection, was appointed in July 2025 as Special Adviser and Personal Representative of the Head of State to the Permanent Council of the International Organization of La Francophonie. On January 6, 2026, she was promoted to Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Chad to France.
Mariam Ali Moussa, who previously served as Chad’s ambassador to Germany, was expelled in 2023 amid a diplomatic dispute between the two countries. She subsequently held a posting in Austria. In January 2026, she was appointed Chadian ambassador to Belgium and to the European Union.
During the audience, the three diplomats expressed their deep gratitude to the head of state for the confidence placed in them through these prestigious appointments. They also received his guidance and advice ahead of their departure for their respective postings.
President Déby urged the diplomats to uphold Chad’s image abroad and underscored the strategic importance of their missions at a time of heightened diplomatic, political and economic challenges on the international stage. He encouraged them to carry out their duties with commitment, professionalism and loyalty in the service of Chad’s national interests and international standing.
Through these appointments, the head of state reaffirmed his commitment to promoting women’s leadership and strengthening Chad’s presence and influence within international institutions and among its strategic partners.
