The Eagle Africa Association, in partnership with other organizations, officially kicked off the second annual “Blue November 2025” campaign in Lomé.
The initiative is dedicated to the prevention and early detection of prostate cancer and other prostate diseases. Under the theme “Against Prostate Diseases, Let’s Act Quickly and Together,” the campaign aims to dismantle taboos surrounding men’s health and stress the critical importance of regular medical checkups. Throughout November, the association is offering free screening sessions in the Togolese capital, including at the Eagle Africa clinic.
The campaign launch featured a large mass sporting event, drawing participation from numerous clubs, associations (including the Cheetahs, Espoir Club, and Leopards), and the Togolese Federation of Sport for All. The event included awareness stops in various neighborhoods of Lomé.
Professor Belo Moufou, representing the Ministry of Health, highlighted that prevention and awareness are the most effective strategies against the disease. “To inform is to protect. To encourage screening is to save lives,” he declared, calling for a collective effort from healthcare professionals, the media, and local communities.
Health authorities confirm that combating non-communicable diseases, such as prostate cancer, is an increasingly high priority in Togo’s public policies.
Dr. Apetsianyi Elie Agbobli, President of Eagle Africa, and Dr. Ahadji Kossi, Executive Director, emphasized that while the prostate is a normal organ, conditions like prostatitis require medical attention. They encouraged men to adopt healthier lifestyles—including regular exercise, reduced intake of sugar and fatty meats, and avoiding tobacco and alcohol—to prevent prostate inflammation.
Togo is strategically investing in cancer control, evidenced by its 2022–2025 national cancer control plan. Furthermore, the Dogta-Lafie Hospital in Lomé recently adopted the Focal One high-intensity focused ultrasound system, making Togo the first African country to offer this less invasive treatment option for prostate cancer.
The “Blue November” campaign, supported by the Prostate Champion’s Center, aligns Togo with the growing global movement dedicated to promoting men’s health and well-being.
