The U.S. Consulate General says it has trained more than 200 young Nigerian entrepreneurs under its Manufacturing Incubation Programme to strengthen their business and creative capacities.
Speaking at the Women Development Centre in Lagos on Wednesday, the Acting U.S. Consul General, Ms. Julie McKay, stated that the programme is funded by the U.S. Department of State’s Alumni Engagement Innovation Fund (AEIF).
McKay said that the training underscored the U.S. commitment to entrepreneurship and strategic partnerships that promote economic growth in Nigeria.
She said that the programme was designed to sharpen the creative and business skills of young entrepreneurs while deepening commercial ties between Nigeria and the United States.
According to local media reports, the programme is supported by the U.S. government as part of activities marking the 250th anniversary of American independence.
The reports quoted a Nigerian beneficiary as saying that the programme had equipped her with entrepreneurial guidance and knowledge of regulatory compliance.
According to the reports, the graduation ceremony featured product exhibitions, award presentations and testimonials from the beneficiaries.
