South African football fans will have a chance to see the original FIFA World Cup Trophy when the iconic prize visits Johannesburg and Cape Town in late January and early February as part of the global FIFA World Cup Trophy Tour by Coca‑Cola.
The Coca‑Cola Company, which has partnered with FIFA since 1976, said the tour will stop in Johannesburg on 30 and 31 January before moving to Cape Town on 1 February, marking its second destination in Africa after Egypt.
It will be the trophy’s first return to the country since 2018.
FIFA chief business officer Romy Gai said the trophy remains “the greatest symbol in sport.”
“Over five editions, the iconic trophy has visited 182 of our 211 member associations, and this tour will be particularly special – not only are we marking the 20th anniversary of the FIFA World Cup Trophy Tour by Coca-Cola, but we are also preparing for the biggest FIFA World Cup in history, with three host nations: Canada, Mexico and the United States,” Gai said.
The tour is designed to bring fans closer to football’s most coveted symbol while building excitement for the upcoming tournament.
FIFA World Cup 2026 is set to be the largest in history and will feature 48 teams and 104 matches, promising more opportunities for fans worldwide to engage with the event.
During its global journey, the trophy will visit 30 FIFA member associations across 75 stops and more than 150 tour days.
