Zambia’s constitutional reform process is entering a decisive phase as members of the Technical Committee on Amendments to the Constitution begin provincial public sittings on Monday, marking the start of a nationwide consultation drive.
Committee spokesperson Landilani Banda told state television that teams have been deployed to Northern, North-Western, Central, Eastern and Western provinces where hearings will run from 27 to 30 October.
The consultations will continue in Muchinga, Southern, Copperbelt and Luapula provinces from 3 to 6 November, concluding in Lusaka Province between 10 and 13 November.
Banda urged citizens to participate actively and submit proposals, noting that the option of online submissions is also available to ensure broad public engagement.
The sittings form part of Zambia’s ongoing constitutional review process aimed at refining the country’s supreme law through inclusive dialogue.
The final report is expected by 16 November and will be officially handed over on 26 November.
The technical committee was established to facilitate public input and ensure that proposed amendments reflect national consensus and democratic values.
