Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa is in Minsk, Belarus for a four-day official visit aimed at strengthening economic cooperation between the two nations.
Foreign Affairs and International Trade Minister Professor Amon Murwira noted on Monday that Mnangagwa’s visit is a continuation of engagements initiated during Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko’s state visit to Zimbabwe in 2019.
“So this is a consolidation of relations between our two sisterly republics,” Murwira said.
Zimbabwe and Belarus already enjoy high-level cooperation across various sectors, including agriculture, industrial production, energy, transport and investment promotion.
Officials hope the latest engagements will pave the way for deeper economic integration and broader trade agreements.
Mnangagwa arrived in Belarus after attending the 80th anniversary of Russia’s Victory Day, underscoring Zimbabwe’s diplomatic ties with Eastern European nations.
During his visit, he is expected to hold discussions with local businesses and meet President Lukashenko to explore ways to expand trade.
