Angola’s Foreign Affairs Minister Téte António is in Seoul for a meeting of African and South Korean foreign ministers that opened on Monday as both sides move to strengthen political dialogue and expand cooperation in trade, investment and technology.
The gathering forms part of the Korea-Africa ministerial process, a platform launched to deepen strategic partnerships and align development priorities between Seoul and African capitals.
António arrived in the South Korean capital early Monday to lead Angola’s delegation at the talks, which bring together senior diplomats from across the continent and their Korean counterparts.
According to Angola’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the meeting will focus on identifying new areas of collaboration in sectors including innovation, sustainable development, education, health and digital transformation.
The ministerial forum takes place against a backdrop of rising global uncertainty, with participating countries emphasising the need for coordinated responses and stronger international partnerships.
South Korea has in recent years expanded its engagement with Africa, positioning itself as a partner in infrastructure development, industrialisation and technology transfer.
Angola’s participation underscores its broader diplomatic strategy of consolidating strategic alliances and advancing national interests through multilateral cooperation.
The government has increasingly sought to leverage such platforms to attract investment, diversify the economy and strengthen ties with major global economies.
South Korea, one of the world’s most technologically advanced and industrialised nations, has been deepening its outreach to African states as part of efforts to build new economic corridors and support sustainable growth.
