The Defense and Security Forces (FDS) and the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP) in Burkina Faso achieved significant operational successes in November 2025, inflicting heavy losses on armed terrorist groups across the country.
These gains were made possible through collaborative actions spanning ground forces, air power, and intelligence gathering.
According to the Burkina Information Agency (AIB), the sustained and coordinated efforts between the military units, auxiliary forces, and intelligence services resulted in the dismantling of several terrorist bases.
The last week of November saw a series of coordinated strikes and counter-attacks: Northern Operations (Yaadga and Solle): On November 27, a confirmed terrorist base in the Yaadga region, located in the north of the country, was targeted and destroyed by precision airstrikes. On the same day, units from the 21st Rapid Intervention Battalion (BIR) operating in Solle (also in the north) successfully neutralized several assailants.
Western Resistance (Boucle du Mouhoun): Also on November 27, units from the 20th and 18th BIR in Lanfiera, within the Boucle du Mouhoun region, repelled a major attack, securing their position. Seizing Assets: From November 25 to 27, the 19th BIR conducted operations that forced armed groups to flee, leaving behind vital materiel. This recovery included vehicles, communications equipment, and improvised explosive devices (IEDs).
These critical operations followed earlier, coordinated interventions conducted on November 22 and 24 in the east of the country, specifically in Diapaga, Sagouem, Legoure, and Sebba. These actions illustrate the continued efforts by Burkinabe forces to secure and stabilize their areas of operation nationwide.
