The Burkinabe government will recruit 2,000 non-commissioned officers for the national police, APA can report on Friday.
The announcement was made Wednesday by the Minister of Security, Mahamadou Sana, who explained that the Council of Ministers adopted a report regarding a request for authorisation to recruit through direct and professional competitive examinations for the national police.
Through direct competitions, 2,000 non-commissioned officers will be admitted to the ranks of the police, including 50 women, with a quota reserved for Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland
(VDPs), Assistant Security Volunteers (VADS), and women members of the Defense and Security Forces who have fallen on the front lines.
Also through direct competitions, 10 commissioners and 10 police officers, with specific qualifications, will be recruited. According to the Minister of Security, Police Divisional Commissioner Mahamadou Sana, his department will also recruit 20 police commissioners and 60 police officers through competitive examinations by 2025. Burkinabe authorities have repeatedly expressed their commitment to massive recruitment to strengthen the army in order to ensure better coverage
of the national territory and combat terrorist groups.
