The Burkinabe government has authorised, during Thursday’s Council of Ministers, the awarding and implementation of public contracts worth 24.67 billion CFA francs including tax for the construction of healthcare infrastructure.
It also sanctions the acquisition of medical and technical equipment across several regions of the country, as part of efforts to strengthen the health system.
Fully financed by the state budget for the 2026 fiscal year, the healthcare infrastructure projects aim to improve access to medical services and enhance the treatment capacity of health facilities nationwide.
According to the report adopted by the Council of Ministers on Thursday, 4 June 2026, the allocation of 24,671,907,314 CFA francs will accelerate the procurement of goods and services needed for the development of the health sector while reducing implementation delays for ongoing projects.
The planned investments include the construction of new healthcare facilities in several localities as well as the equipping of health centres with modern medical and technical equipment.
The use of an expedited procurement procedure is justified by the need to respond quickly to growing demand in the health sector and continuously improve the quality of services delivered to the population.
Through this nearly 25 billion CFA francs investment, the authorities aim to strengthen the capacity of healthcare structures, improve their level of equipment and bring health services closer to citizens across the national territory.
