The Moroccan authorities have categorically refuted the false information circulating on social media and several websites regarding an alleged circular sent to schools in connection with the supposed “child abduction phenomenon.”
In a statement released on Thursday, March 5, the Moroccan Interior Ministry noted that false information had been spreading in recent hours across social media platforms and websites concerning the alleged notice sent to schools about the so-called “child abduction phenomenon,” and to flatly deny the claims.
The ministry stressed that “the information circulating is entirelywithout foundation,” adding that it “has not sent any such notice to schools or to any other party”.
It described the content being shared as nothing more than malicious allegations and baseless rumours, spread without any verification or reference to recognised official sources.
Reaffirming its commitment to keeping the public informed, the Interior Ministry called on citizens and media outlets to carefully verify the accuracy of any information touching on public affairs by consulting recognised official sources and refrain from sharing or amplifying unreliable content capable of causing confusion, anxiety and panic among families and the general public.
