The 27th edition of the Ebony Weekend, the major event celebrating journalistic excellence and distinction in
Côte d’Ivoire will be held from Friday, February 6 to Sunday, February 8, 2026, in Yamoussoukro, the Ivorian political capital.
Organised by the National Union of Journalists of Côte d’Ivoire (UNJCI), the press conference launching this edition was held on Thursday, in Abidjan, at the headquarters of its partner, Rimco Motors.
The Ivorian political capital, Yamoussoukro, will be the sanctuary of Ivorian journalism for one weekend. The
UNJCI, under the leadership of its president, Jean-Claude Coulibaly, unveiled the details of this edition, which promises to be a blend of professional reflection, sports, and festivities.
The event will kick off on Friday, February 6th, at 7:00 am at the Maison de la Presse in Abidjan-Plateau, with the convoy departing for Yamoussoukro.
Upon arrival, participants will gather at the “Ebony Village” for a networking lunch with partners.
The afternoon of the first day will be dedicated to intellectual pursuits, featuring a high-level panel discussion at the Félix Houphouët-Boigny Foundation. The central theme, “A Responsible Journalist for Stronger Action,” will be complemented by a presentation from Denis Charles Kouassi, Director General of the CNPS (National Social Security Fund).
Denis Charles Kouassi will address the new economic model for media companies, a crucial topic for which the President of the UNJCI (National Union of Journalists of Côte d’Ivoire), Jean-Claude Coulibaly, has urged media owners to attend in large numbers.
Saturday, February 7th, will be reserved for relaxation and physical activities. A cross-country race will wind through the streets of Yamoussoukro at dawn, followed in the afternoon by the final of the fraternity tournament.
The highly anticipated event, the prestigious “Night of Communication,” will take place on Saturday evening starting at 8:00 p.m. Held under the patronage of Vice-President Tiemoko Meyliet Kone and the sponsorship of Prime Minister Robert Mambe, the gala evening will recognise the country’s best writers and voices.
The winner of the “Super Ebony” Prize will, once again this year, receive a vehicle donated by partner Rimco Motors. The president of the UNJCI congratulated the nominees and called on the entire profession to mobilise in an exemplary manner to make this 2026 edition a historic success.
The festivities will conclude on Sunday, February 8, 2026, with an ecotourism experience during a luncheon at Domaine Bini.
To participate in this edition, journalists are invited to register on the dedicated platform to access this weekend where reflection and entertainment come together.
