Ethiopian Airlines has announced the launch of its new flight service to the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), increasing its daily midday flights to and from Kinshasa starting December 1, 2026, the airline said in a statement seen by APA on Saturday.
The airlines said that its service expansion to the DRC capital brings the Ethiopian flag carrier’s services to and from Kinshasa to 21 weekly flights.
It said alongside dedicated passenger and cargo services to Kinshasa, the airline also offers passenger flights to other destinations in the DRC, including Lubumbashi and Goma.
“Since the launch of its inaugural flight to the city back in 1975, it has been offering uninterrupted service to the destination, significantly contributing to the socio-economic ties between Kinshasa and the rest of its global network,” the statement reads.
The Ethiopian Airlines also partnered with the DRC government in December 2024 to launch Air Congo.
Based on the agreement, the DRC government will hold a 51 percent majority stake, while Ethiopian Airlines will retain 49 percent share, and manage the airlines.
