The Ethiopian Airlines launched thrice-weekly passenger service to Hyderabad, India as of Monday, June 16, the airlines said in a statement.
The new flight marks the airline’s sixth destination to India, a major step to strengthen economic, cultural, and diplomatic ties between Africa and the South Asian nation, Mesfin Tasew, chief executive officer (CEO) of Ethiopian Airlines Group, said at the launching ceremony.
“Today, we have gathered here to celebrate the opening of a new passenger route, connecting Hyderabad to our 140 plus destinations worldwide as our sixth destination in India,” Tasew said.
According to the CEO, the new flight signifies the commitment of the Ethiopian Airlines to advancing air transport connectivity in Asia and beyond, offering seamless options to passengers traveling between India and other parts of the world.
Since its inaugural flight to New Delhi in 1966, Ethiopian Airlines has progressively expanded its footprint in India, now offering over fifty weekly passenger and cargo flights to Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, New Delhi, Hyderabad, and Mumbai, the statement said.
