The Ghana Health Service (GHS) has confirmed 10 new cases of Mpox, bringing the country’s total number of infections to 565 as of September 18.
The latest figure shows a steady increase in reported cases in recent weeks.
According to GHS, on September 1, it recorded 27 new infections, which raised the national tally to 494.
It stated that that number climbed to 519 on September 11 after 25 additional cases were confirmed.
However, health experts state that Mpox spreads mainly through close contact with someone who is infected and that the common symptoms of Mpox include fever, headache, muscle pains, swollen lymph nodes and a rash.
According to local media reports, the GHS has advised the public to observe good hygiene practices and report promptly to the nearest health facility if they experience any of the symptoms.
