Guinea’s Ministry of Transport has suspended two senior officials of the National Directorate of Merchant Shipping, citing serious misconduct, and appointed an interim director to ensure continuity.
Transport Minister Ousmane Gaoual Diallo announced the suspension of Paul Moussa Diawara, Director General, and Aly Nabé, Deputy Director General of the Merchant Shipping Directorate, for “gross misconduct.”
The measure which takes immediate effect “until further notice,” does not specify the details of the charges but refers to breaches of regulations governing public service and the conduct of state officials.
To maintain operations, Mamoudou Keïta, adviser in charge of land and maritime transport, has been appointed Acting Director General. The Ministry’s Secretary General and Inspectorate General have been tasked with overseeing enforcement.
In a letter dated August 25, Minister Diallo informed the president of the Guinean Association of Shipping Agents (AGUICOM) of the personnel changes, underscoring the importance of keeping stakeholders in the maritime sector informed.
