Ivorian Prime Minister Robert Beugre Mambe will represent Côte d’Ivoire at the 9th Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD 9), which will be held from August 20 to 22, 2025, in Yokohama, Japan.
According to a note from the Prime Minister’s Office, the Ivorian head of government will speak at plenary sessions on critical issues, including peace, security, and the economy. He will also participate in the presentation of the Hideyo Noguchi Prize for Africa, which recognizes contributions to medical research and services on the continent.
TICAD 9 will serve as a key platform for African leaders and experts to engage in discussions centered on three main themes: This includes education, health, and gender equality. Topics will cover conflict prevention, cybersecurity, and countering extremism. The conference will explore strategies for a more sustainable and technologically advanced future.
The conference aims to strengthen the strategic partnership between Japan and Africa, with a particular focus on innovation, inclusion, and resilience. It seeks to boost economic growth by promoting Japanese investment in African sectors such as infrastructure, energy, agriculture, and digital technologies. The conference will also place a strong emphasis on building local industrial capacity to increase African exports and on investing in social development through education, public health, and human resource development.
Organized by the Japanese government in partnership with the African Union, the United Nations, and the World Bank, TICAD was established in 1993 as a key forum for collaboration on sustainable development and economic cooperation. The Ivorian delegation accompanying the Prime Minister will include Nialé Kaba, Minister of Economy, Planning, and Development, and Leon Kakou Houadja Adom, Minister of Foreign Affairs.
