As part of the military modernisation plan for 2030, Libyan Special Forces have been conducting intensive high-altitude parachute training in Belarus, under the direct supervision of Lieutenant General Saddam Haftar, Deputy
Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces.
According to the Libyan War Information Division, the special forces training in Belarus is part of the strategy to strengthen the operational capabilities of the Libyan army, with the aim of strengthening combat readiness and responsiveness to multiple threats.
The exercises took place in varying weather conditions and included jumps with full equipment, the use of high-altitude oxygen systems, and scenarios simulating infiltration behind enemy lines.
Participants also encountered rough terrain to hone their skills in rapid decision-making under pressure. The training utilised cutting-edge technology, ranging from precision altimeters to advanced communications systems, to ensure safety and efficiency.
According to military officials, the members of the special units demonstrated a high degree of skill, successfully overcoming strong winds and unstable weather conditions.
This sequence illustrates the desire of the Libyan general staff, dominated by the Haftar clan, to integrate its special forces into a framework of professionalisation and international cooperation, while Libya remains plagued by internal rivalries and a fragile security situation.
