Many are missing and feared to have drowned after a canoe carrying some 40 people capsized in River Nguse, in Uganda’s Kagadi District on Tuesday evening.
The Ugandan police in a statement on Wednesdya say they are responding to the tragic incident with a lone survivor identified as Byaruhanga Tumuhaise 27, a resident of Kyaleni village.
The police say it could not determine the exact number of people missing due to lack of a passenger manifest.
The possible causes include overloading, night travel, and the condition of the vessel.
