Morocco and Bahrain on Monday reaffirmed in Laâyoune their determination to enhance bilateral cooperation across various spheres of human endeavour.
This commitment was expressed during the sixth session of the Morocco-Bahrain Joint High Commission, co-chaired by Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita, and Bahrain’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani.
On the occasion, Bourita highlighted the depth of the solid fraternal relations uniting the two kingdoms and their peoples, reiterating Morocco’s willingness to give fresh impetus to these ties across all sectors and expand them toward broader horizons.
The Moroccan minister also reviewed the potential available to both countries, underscoring the importance of making optimal use of these assets.
Bahrain’s top diplomat expressed pride in visiting what he described as his second country, the Kingdom of Morocco. He reaffirmed Bahrain’s readiness to explore all avenues to strengthen, develop and diversify bilateral cooperation so as to encompass various sectors in service of the shared interests of both nations.
The two ministers subsequently held talks focused on assessing the trajectory of bilateral cooperation and ways to elevate it to higher levels, as well as exchanging views on Arab, regional and international issues of common interest. They noted with satisfaction the convergence of positions between the two kingdoms on these matters.
The sixth session of the Joint High Commission concluded with the signing of several agreements and memoranda of understanding. These include an agreement on visa exemption for holders of diplomatic passports between the governments of Morocco and Bahrain, an agreement on visa exemption for holders of special and service passports, and a memorandum of understanding on customs cooperation between Morocco’s Administration of Customs and Indirect Taxes and Bahrain’s Customs Affairs.
Additional memoranda of understanding were signed in the fields of agricultural and livestock production and development, as well as food security, between Morocco’s Ministry of Agriculture, Maritime Fisheries, Rural Development and Water and Forests and Bahrain’s Ministry of Municipalities and Agriculture.
Another MoU was concluded on cooperation in pensions and social security between Morocco’s Caisse de Dépôt et de Gestion (CDG) and Bahrain’s General Organisation for Social Insurance.
