Morocco and Egypt are working to fast-track agreements signed in 2023 to strengthen their cooperation in the transport sector.
This goal was the focus of a meeting in Rabat between Morocco’s Minister of Transport and Logistics, Abdessamad Kayouh, and Egypt’s Ambassador to Morocco, Ahmed Nehad Abdel Latif.
Following their discussions, both parties emphasized the “deep bonds of friendship and brotherhood” between the two countries and the significant growth of their transport partnership. They stated their shared goal to “broaden the horizons of this strategic partnership.”
The meeting centered on how to implement the agreements signed in November 2023, which cover railways, roads, and maritime safety. The officials agreed to increase technical exchanges and specialized missions to share best practices. They also noted their ongoing cooperation and mutual support within international organizations.
Ambassador Abdel Latif promoted the upcoming 6th Edition of the Middle East and Africa Industry, Smart Transport and Logistics Exhibition and Forum (Trans MEA 2025), which will be held in Cairo. He highlighted the event as a key forum for discussing new transport technologies. He also noted Egypt’s recent efforts to improve its infrastructure, including its road and rail networks.
Minister Kayouh, in turn, shared details about Morocco’s plans to expand its own railway network, identifying opportunities for technical and industrial cooperation.
The two delegations also explored ways to deepen their cooperation in air and maritime transport, discussing new flight routes and exchanges of expertise between maritime training institutes in both countries.
