Morocco’s three main telecom operators — Maroc Telecom, Orange Maroc, and Inwi — officially launched their 5G networks on Friday, ushering in a new era of ultra-fast connectivity across the kingdom.
With speeds exceeding 2 Gbps, the technology will initially cover the country’s major urban centers.
Starting Friday, subscribers with 5G-compatible smartphones in covered areas can now see the “5G” symbol appear on their devices.
The incumbent operator Maroc Telecom announced the rollout through SMS notifications and social media, confirming the activation of 5G services nationwide on November 7, 2025.
Orange Maroc, for its part, described the launch as the dawn of “a new era of connectivity powered by 25 years of innovation and expertise.” The operator said the technology promises instant, seamless, and eco-friendly connectivity, benefiting both individuals and businesses while accelerating Morocco’s digital transformation.
“More than just a technology, it’s a new way of living, working, and sharing — instantly connecting Moroccans to what matters most,” Orange Maroc stated in a press release.
According to the operator, 5G allows users to share high-definition moments with loved ones without lag or interruption, enabling smoother video calls, immersive streaming and gaming experiences, and faster response times for connected devices.
From ultra-HD entertainment and professional videoconferencing to smart homes, telemedicine, and immersive learning, 5G is set to simplify everyday life while strengthening digital inclusion across the country.
For businesses, the new technology opens up vast opportunities — real-time collaboration, remote control of machinery and vehicles, process automation, and accelerated digitalisation — helping companies become more agile, competitive, and innovative.
More than 100 Moroccan cities are already covered, with nationwide expansion planned in the coming months.
“With 5G, Orange Maroc takes another step forward in its mission to bring Moroccans closer to what truly matters,” said Hendrik Kasteel, CEO of Orange Maroc.
Meanwhile, Inwi also announced the launch of its 5G network, describing it as a milestone in Morocco’s digital development. The operator confirmed that access is immediate and at no additional cost for users with compatible smartphones.
Within hours of the launch, many customers reported seeing the 5G logo appear on their phones. For most, no SIM card replacement or plan change is required.
