Morocco has taken delivery of wheeled armored vehicles (WhAP 8×8), manufactured at the industrial unit of the Indian company Tata Advanced Systems Ltd. located in Berrechid, in the
Casablanca-Settat region, the company announced on its official X platform.
Tata Advanced Systems officially announced the delivery of the initial contingent of WhAP 8×8 armored vehicles to the Royal Moroccan Armed Forces.
The Indian conglomerate describes this operation as a “major milestone,” highlighting not only the consolidation of its strategic alliance with Morocco, but also the contribution of proven military
capabilities, embodied by a “Made in Morocco” label.
“An achievement we are proud of! The first fleet of WhAP 8×8 vehicles has been delivered to the Royal Moroccan Army. Strengthening partnerships, providing proven and reliable capabilities. Made in Morocco,” the Indian company stated. The WhAP 8×8 (Wheeled Armoured Amphibious Platform) stands out as TASL’s technological flagship. This wheeled amphibious infantry fighting vehicle, a pioneer in its class and developed entirely in India, has been meticulously designed to guarantee optimal survivability, exceptional mobility across all types of terrain, and substantial firepower. Its design is based on a modular and inherently scalable architecture, giving it remarkable adaptability to a wide range of missions and operational theaters.
This delivery fulfills the industrial commitment made during the inauguration, on September 23, of the Tata Advanced Systems Morocco (TASM) plant in Berrechid, near Casablanca, according to local media reports. The first industrial unit of this scale in the kingdom, the site is exclusively dedicated to the assembly and production of the WhAP 8×8 armored vehicles.
Although production is initially intended to meet the needs of the Royal Armed Forces, a gradual shift towards African markets is planned, thus positioning Morocco as a regional export hub.
As a reminder, last September, Indian Defense Minister Rajnath Singh inaugurated the Tata Advanced Systems Morocco (TASM) plant in Berrechid, describing the project as “a new chapter in the strategic partnership between India and Morocco.”
With this first delivery, Morocco takes a concrete step in the development of its defense industry.
The Berrechid plant becomes India’s first defense manufacturing facility outside of India and positions the Kingdom as a regional production site for armored vehicles.
