Senegal wishes to strengthen cooperation with Morocco in the area of seawater desalination, its Minister of Water and Sanitation, Cheikh Tidiane Dieye, said on Wednesday in Marrakech.
Speaking to the media on the sidelines of his participation in the 19th World Water Congress, Dieye highlighted Morocco’s significant progress in seawater desalination, emphasising the importance of exchanging expertise and knowledge between the two countries in this field.
He cited sanitation and water resource management as areas of cooperation and experience sharing between Morocco and Senegal, underscoring the quality and depth of the historical ties between the two countries. “This is a relationship that can inspire other countries to develop a space for prosperity and the sharing of experiences and knowledge in Africa,” said the minister, who also

The Senegalese official praised Morocco’s commitment and its significant contribution to the development and adoption of the African Water Vision and Policy 2063 (AWVP 2063), which places water at the heart of economic, social, and environmental transformation.
Thanks to this Vision, “a strong Africa is emerging, one that is increasingly mastering technology and innovation and putting them at the service of this priority sector,” he added.
