The 11th National Investment Committee, meeting on Thursday in Rabat, approved 29 investment agreements totalling nearly 42 billion dirhams (3.93 billion euros) and 9 amendments to existing agreements within the framework of the main investment scheme, according to an official source.
The meeting was chaired by Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch, who highlighted the positive results of the implementation of the new Investment Charter, which is now fully operational. After only three years of operation, this charter has facilitated the signing of 391 investment agreements, representing a total investment of 520 billion dirhams.
The 29 approved projects will create nearly 9,800 jobs, including 2,400 direct and 7,400 indirect jobs, according to a statement from the Moroccan government.
The investments approved under the main program cover 16 provinces and prefectures across 6 regions of the kingdom. These provinces include Al Haouz, El Jadida, Moulay Yacoub, Nador, Rehamna, and Taroudant, the same source added.
The projects span 13 sectors, including tourism and leisure, chemicals and related products, the agri-food industry, port infrastructure, aeronautics, logistics, trade and distribution, telecommunications, waste processing and recovery, and renewable energy.
Of these 29 projects, the agri-food sector is the leading job creator, followed by chemicals and related products, and aeronautics.
According to the same source, the National Investment Commission approved, under the strategic program, 3 draft agreements totalling 8.4 billion dirhams and more than 2,700 direct jobs, as well as one draft amendment.
These four projects cover three sectors: electric vehicles, aerospace, and textiles, and will be located in four regions: Casablanca-Settat, Rabat-Sale-Kenitra, Fez-Meknes, and Tangiers-Tetouan-Al Hoceima.
The commission also designated three investment projects as strategic, representing a total investment of nearly 29 billion dirhams and expected to create more than 1,100 direct jobs, according to the press release.
