The city of Tangiers, Morocco, is preparing to host the 17th edition of the MEDays International Forum from November 26–29.
This annual gathering, which has evolved from a Mediterranean-centric event into what many now call the “African Davos,” serves as a vital platform for the Global South to discuss world affairs.
This year’s forum is set to address the pressing geopolitical reality under the theme: “Fractures and Polarization: Reinventing the Global Equation.”
Organized by the MEDays Forum Foundation and the Amadeus Institute, and held under the High Patronage of King Mohammed VI, the 2025 forum is expected to draw over 7,000 participants from more than 120 countries. Attendees will include 300 high-level speakers, such as heads of state, top business executives, and international experts.
Since its inception in 2008—when it was titled “The Southern Forum for a New Mediterranean”—MEDays has significantly broadened its scope and ambition. It has transformed from a regional dialogue platform into a major international hub where the Global South can articulate its vision for a more multipolar world order.
The evolution of the forum’s themes reflects the shifting global dynamics. Earlier editions focused on topics like “responsible co-development” (2009) and “What emergences in an unstable world?” (2013). Each year, MEDays functions as both a barometer of international affairs and a proactive force for policy discussion.
The 2025 theme directly confronts the most urgent challenge facing global governance: the collapse of the consensus-based international order amid growing fractures and polarization.
In a world defined by uncertainty, MEDays positions itself as a catalyst for ideas and a center for geostrategic and economic reflection. Its core mission, as noted on the official website, remains consistent: to transform ideas into action, to give a voice to countries of the Global South, and to influence the redefinition of global power balances, solidifying Morocco’s role as a bridge between continents.
