The Namibian government has dismissed allegations circulating on social media and online platforms that President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah ordered the deportation of over 500 US nationals.
In a statement on Wednesday, the Presidency denied the claims, describing them as fabricated and “intended to tarnish the image of the President, the Namibian government and to create potential diplomatic embarrassment.”
The reports alleged that the deportation was linked to visa reciprocity issues.
“The Presidency wishes to make it categorically clear that no such order of deportation or statement has been issued by the President and no mass deportation of American nationals is underway,” the statement read.
It insisted that all immigration-related matters in Namibia are handled through established legal and diplomatic channels.
Namibia reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining strong bilateral relations with the United States, highlighting its adherence to international norms and visa policies based on mutual respect and reciprocity.
The government urged the public, media outlets and digital content creators to verify information through official channels before sharing or reporting on such claims.
